How do you know if a textile collar is right for your dog?

Unlike leather, most textile collars can be hand washed in lukewarm water with a mild soap. Avoid using a washing machine, which may damage buckles or stitching, and don't tumble dry, as excessive heat can weaken the fibres. Allow the collar to air dry flat, away from direct heat. Keeping the collar clean also helps reduce skin irritation caused by sweat, loose hair, dirt, or shampoo residue.

Using a textile collar with a leash: a few precautions

If your dog pulls strongly on the leash, choose a collar fitted with a sturdy metal buckle and D-ring rather than a plastic side-release buckle, which may wear out more quickly on lightweight textile collars. For dogs that pull consistently, a harness is often a better option for protecting the trachea, with the collar reserved for carrying ID tags and for calmer situations.
